Welcome to our classroom:

Here are a few pictures of our Year 1 classroom.

Autumn Term 1:

Our topic- Let's go to London

Throughout the first half term at school, children visited London on an imaginary bus tour and made their own buses. They used compasses to navigate between famous London landmarks and places in Easingwold.

Autumn Term 2:

Our topic- Great Fire of London!

Throughout this second half-term, children have time-travelled to 1666 and learnt all about the Great Fire of London. They have learnt lots of facts, read a diary entry from Samuel Pepys and wrote their own, imagining they were alive at the time. We have also built Tudor houses and recreated our very own Great Fire!!

Spring Term 1:

Our topic- The Big Freeze

We may have had a strange start to 2021, but we have had some fun times and lots of good learning has still taken place. Children have learnt about the Artic and Antarctica, finding out where they are on a globe and the animals that live there. They have wrote some descriptive sentences about Percy the Park Keeper going on an adventure. In school, children got to the chance to find out all about stick insects and guinea pigs and how we care for them for our science work.

Spring Term 2:

Our topic- Land Ahoy

This half term, children were introduced to Captain Cook and what life was like on a boat for an explorer. They sampled the food that Captain Cook and his crew would have eaten and they made mittens for an expedition. As all children returned to school from home learning, children enjoyed lots of team games in PE lessons and time to talk about their feelings.
