Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Easingwold Primary School we place great emphasis on healthy bodies and minds. We follow the 5 Ways to Well Being Approach and encourage children to; Be active, Connect, Give, Take notice and Keep Learning.

In class we regularly talk about our feelings and teach children how to manage them effectively. This is done through the use of a Blob Tree. We love using Blob Trees in our school because we can identify with the characters and it helps us to explain to others how we are feeling. It also helps us to think about how we can change our mood to have a better day or how we can put something right.

In each class we also have a Worry Monster to give us the opportunity to share our worries with an adult. If we put a worry in there, somebody will talk to us and help us. This makes us feel listened to and safe as we can always get help if we need it.

Mrs Cottrell is the Mental Health Lead in school and we can go to her office if we ever need a chat or some help. We can also talk to any of our trusted adults if we need support with our mental health.

Our teachers, parents and carers can also make a referral to Compass Phoenix for some more specialised help if they think we need it.
