Tree Planting at Easingwold Cricket Club

Myself and Miss Mossop had the pleasure of accompanying the Year 5 children to the cricket club this week to take part in a tree planting event. We even managed to get a brief piece on BBC Look North! The children witnessed a weeping cherry tree being planted as part of the Queen's Canopy Project to celebrate her upcoming Platinum Jubilee and then planted 120 tree saplings that will eventually grow to form a hedge providing much needed habitat for wildlife. They enjoyed refreshments provide by the WI and had a talk from the Woodland Trust volunteers about the importance of trees. The school were presented with a tree to plant on site and the cricket club planted a tree for us with a Woodland Trust to thank us for helping.

Throughout the whole event, I received many compliments from the adults attending about how polite, courteous and friendly our children are, myself and Miss Mossop were super proud. Well done Year 5, and thank you. In years to come, you will be able to watch the tree and hedge grow and remember this special event.
